This 45-mile paved trail is a very popular multi-use trail and incudes a adjacent trail for horses along much of the paved trail. The W & OD offers several connections between other trails in the area. Here are some examples of the major trail connections. From the west end of the W & OD Trail in Purcellville, bicyclists can travel a short distance on beautiful, little-used, country roads to Brunswick, Md. where they will link up with the C & O Towpath and the American Discovery Trail along the Potomac River.
